STFW successfully ran in 2020 and 2021. Maybe we'll be back again? Until then, enjoy past info and check out the photos & videos!
Stone's Throw Family Weekend is the name of the offering put together by grateful individuals who wish to show their support to these superhero families, and is not a registered non-profit.
NYC EMS Personnel and their families, especially in cases where the EMS worker spent time away from their children due to their work with COVID-19
We have room for up to 10 families to participate.
This has been a time of high stress for everyone, especially those working on the frontlines and the families who love them. We want to show our gratitude and give your family a chance to have fun together in a peaceful, relaxing setting.
Arts and crafts, time spent in nature, campfires, (socially distanced) group games, mindfulness activities, great food, and more!
Hear from Ms. Tanya and her family.
Arthur and Samantha share their experiences.

Stone’s Throw Family Weekend provides EMS workers and their families a chance to recover from the persisting stresses they may be experiencing as a result of working during the COVID-19 Pandemic by offering a free weekend of programming aimed at giving the entire family opportunities to relax, reconnect, and enjoy shared activities in a supportive and fun environment.
For the second time, Stone’s Throw is thrilled to offer a 3 night experience on the grounds of a traditional summer camp. This year we have moved our site closer to New York City, to better accommodate our participants. Our weekend will include living in (modern) cabins (with electricity and plumbing), a campfire with s’mores, opportunities to indulge your competitive/artistic/chill sides, optional mental health and stress relief supports, and many of the activities you would expect at a summer camp! There are also many opportunities to just sit and chat with your own family, and with others who have recently weathered the same storm. The weekend is available at no cost to participants. Priority is extended to families who experienced a separation due to the needs and risks of a parent’s job.
See more about YMCA Camp Bernie on their website, here.
